Microchipping for Pets

Accidents can happen even to the most eagle-eyed pet parents. Furry friends are naturally curious creatures, and they may wander away from you and get lost without you noticing. All it takes is a split second of distraction. With microchipping, your chances of being reunited with your pet are greatly increased. This is a must-do for all responsible pet owners. To learn more about our microchipping services, please call our team at 403.239.4657.

What is a microchip for pets?

A microchip is a small device that contains your contact information and any vital information about your pet’s health. In the event that your pet becomes lost and is found by another veterinary team or rescue shelter, they can scan the microchip and request the manufacturer to extract the information within the chip. This will allow them to reach out to you to let you know that your pet has is safe and well. It will also notify them of any extra care or medical treatments your pet may need.

Is pet microchipping safe?

Yes. The microchip is the size of a small grain of rice. It is made of materials that are compatible with your pet’s body and are made to last their entire lifetime – the microchip does not need to be replaced. Placing the microchip inside your pet is also a quick procedure. Most pets will feel like they are receiving a typical injection when it is inserted, usually in between their shoulder blades just underneath the skin.

Dear Clients,

With recent changes to restrictions on businesses, we have made some important updates to our operating policies.

This includes vaccines, wellness exams, blood work, spays and neuters, dental services, and more!

As you can imagine, we have a significant backlog of surgeries and wellness/vaccine exams to catch up on and we will be working hard over the next several weeks to do just that. We want to thank everyone in advance for your patience while we work through this. Although restrictions have been lifted, our health and safety protocols have not. It is important we continue to follow the guidelines set out by Worksafe Alberta and social distance our large team as much as possible. This means although we can offer these elective services, we are doing much fewer during the day than we were pre-COVID.
